QUDIT is exploring new initiatives to expand the EDUROAM (EDUcational ROAMing) service in the education and other sectors. Negotiations are underway to materialise these initiatives.
The Australian Schools Eduroam Trial to expand eduroam to the school sector is one such initiative that has been launched. The primary objective of the project is to trial Australian schools becoming EDUROAM identity and service providers in order to determine if, and how best to, expand EDUROAM into this branch of the education sector.
The trail will be conducted across four Australian states and has approximately 7 Universities and 12 schools participating. Opportunities will be explored in the states of Queensland, Tasmania, Victoria and the Northern Territory.
The following Universities are participating as buddies for the schools:
- Australian Catholic University
- Charles Sturt University
- Deakin University
- Queensland University of Technology
- The University of Queensland
- University of Southern Queensland
- University of Tasmania
The buddy universities will support a mixture of state and private schools.
QUDIT is working with the Queensland Education Department to progress the trial at Queensland public schools.
Eduroam is supported in Australia by AARNet (www.aarnet.edu.au ). QUDIT is working in collaboration with AARNet to execute the trial. For more information on eduroam, visit the Australian eduroam website (http://www.eduroam.edu.au).
