Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), AARNet and Queensland University Directors of IT (QUDIT) are proud to announce that an initiative to deploy EDUROAM (EDUcational ROAMing) at Brisbane Airport was successfully completed at the end of 2020. BAC is the operator of Brisbane Airport, the third-largest airport in Australia by passenger numbers and had 23.8 million passengers in the 2019 financial year.
Agreement was reached with the BAC in collaboration with local university partners Queensland University of Technology and The University of Queensland and the initiative was commenced in 2019. BAC is committed to improve their services by innovating with their customers in mind. Students and staff from EDUROAM participating universities, both nationally and internationally, can now connect to their campus networks from the Brisbane Airport. QUDIT continues to look for new opportunities to expand the EDUROAM service into different sectors and negotiations continue with a range of potential partners.
EDUROAM is supported in Australia by AARNet (www.aarnet.edu.au). QUDIT is working in collaboration with AARNet on EDUROAM initiatives. For more information on EDUROAM, visit the Australian EDUROAM website (http://www.eduroam.edu.au).
