The Eduroam Trial in the School Sector Project was initiated as QUDIT directors recognized a need to provide eduroam access for schools nationally. The primary objective of the project was to trial Australian schools becoming Eduroam identity and service providers in order to determine if, and how best to, expand Eduroam into this branch of the education sector.
The trail was conducted across three Australian states and included 6 schools in total. Opportunities were explored in Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria.
QUDIT, DETE and AARNet with support from The University of Queensland worked on the Queensland aspect of the Australia wide initiative.
The project closed on 1 February 2017. The project revealed valuable information related to experience of schools deploying and participating in eduroam. Extension of the initiative was blocked pending the AARNet eduroam policy review.
