Mission

The QUDIT mission is to establish and implement world’s best-practice in regional collaboration in the use of ICT, to position members for sustainable and leading success in higher education and research.

Guiding Principles

The QUDIT collaboration recognises the importance of the shared values of integrity, mutual respect, trust, a willingness to share and leadership.
Member institutions will collaborate to advance an agreed ICT agenda within the region, whilst preserving their independence and ability to compete with each other as necessary.
Member institutions will collaborate to undertake ICT projects where a collective approach (as opposed to an individual approach) delivers otherwise unobtainable outcomes, significantly improved outcomes, or material cost savings to the benefit to the majority of members.
Collaborative initiatives may proceed without all members choosing to participate. Member institutions may ‘opt-out’ from participation in specific initiatives.
Cost sharing initiatives will recognise the range of size of members; their geography (including number of campuses) and their respective ability to contribute, in achieving equitable outcomes.
QUDIT will actively partner and work with all levels of government, CAUDIT, AARNet and other relevant bodies to enhance the ICT efficacy of its members. In doing so QUDIT will avoid duplication of effort, activities and services.

Objectives

The objective of the organisation shall be to promote and advance the development and use of Information and Communications Technologies (hereafter called “ICT”) in Higher Education and Research in Queensland and adjacent areas in Australia, through a variety of relevant means, including but not limited to the following:

Undertaking ICT projects where a collective approach provides service or cost benefits to members
Foster and facilitate coordination and cooperation in the work of members (eg. by arranging special meetings and seminars to discuss mechanisms for sharing ICT expertise, infrastructure and/or services)
Provide opportunities for the exchange of information among ICT staff in the region (eg. by the annual QUESTnet conference and other meetings of personnel in areas of common interest and endeavour)
Formulate and offer approaches to common issues of members (eg. commission projects, arrange development seminars)
Provide strategic direction to, and coordination among, the ICT activities in the sector (eg. via committee memberships, submissions on proposed initiatives)
Establish and oversee sub-committees for specific roles or tasks for the benefit of members (eg. QUESTnet conference)
Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with CAUDIT, AARNet and other relevant sector partners
Promote and represent our sector in the State to develop a sphere of influence, particularly with other educational areas and Government
Deal with vendors on a regional basis appropriate to QUDIT members.
